Dear Commissioner,

As a resident of Emery County, I am writing to ask for your support of the Huntington Creek Solar.

I believe strongly in the core principle that landowners have the right to decide how to use their private property. Our county should not be in the business of letting the government, or a vocal minority, dictate what a person can or cannot do with their own land.

This project represents a critical opportunity for our community by adding $362 million in new value to our tax base and lowering the property tax rate for every landowner in the county, offsetting the declining revenue from our coal-fired plants.

It will also bring $35.9 million in new tax revenue and $10.8 million in local construction wages. This will provide essential funding for our schools and public services without raising taxes on residents.

Finally, full decommissioning bonds and HB 16 will also protect our land for the long term and keep any repair burden off of taxpayers.
